Yvonne Gilbert

Background
Yvonne Gilbert has served on the Bay Clinic Board of Directors since 2007. Yvonne Gilbert's experience is in public health, nonprofit management, health advocacy and research, and fundraising. She currently works as Program Director for Kona and Ka`u with the Arc of Kona and loves her job, the organization, and the community she serves. She has a Masters Degree in Public Health, and has worked at the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation as a grant writer, and women's outreach worker. She has researched with Project A.I.R. regarding volcanic emissions and airway function. She lived and worked in Africa with the Rwanda-Zambia HIV Research Group assisting with HIV research and clinical trials. She designed and implemented a study on teen pregnancy with the Department of Health through Title X and has extensive experience managing grant funded programs, both with funding agencies and with grant seeking organizations. Her personal interests include advocacy, health care, and reproductive health to include maternal and child health needs, adolescent reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infection.

Personal Statement
"I am interested in the Bay Clinic because of the comprehensive, community-based and centered care that Bay Clinic provides and the importance of and emphasis on needy communities and addressing their unmet health care needs. I am committed to community health, to progressive and creative solutions to solving health issues, to advocacy for needy populations and health care for all."
